Welcome to the 2022 Capital Region Media Arts Festival hosted by Niskayuna High School.
We are excited to share this website, created by Niskayuna media arts teacher Stephanie Palazeke, showcasing all of the photography, graphic design, computer art, film and animation work submitted by our 17 participating school districts. The work is outstanding and evidence of the passion for media arts in our region. This year, our festival took the form of a livestream highlighting all of the award-winning work and featuring a keynote interview. There are so many people to thank for their contributions to this event.
Thank you to keynote speaker Ollie Yao for sharing his 3-D animation work and insights.
Thank you to our jurors: photographer Valery Rizzo (Photography categories), designer Jennifer Wilkerson (Graphic Design categories), illustrator Samantha Cotterill (Computer Arts categories), and filmmaker Josh Stasko (Film and Animation categories).
Thank you to Stephen Honicki, New York State Media Arts Teachers Association (NYSMATA) Co-President, for organizing and uploading our film and video submissions into categories on YouTube for our jurors and website.
Thank you to the Capital Area Art Supervisors (CAAS) and the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA) Region 6 for sponsoring the festival.
Thank you to our district administrations and school boards for recognizing the importance of media arts programs.
Thank you to our Nisky Media Arts Festival Team (Melissa Leach, Stephanie Palazeke and Morgan Tibbitts) who made this year’s festival possible.
Lastly, thank you to all of the media arts teachers, whose creativity and commitment can be seen in the wonderful work of our students.
